Our doctors, Dr. Baumgaertel and Dr. Beckwith, have a simple treatment philosophy. They want to give you the most beautiful or handsome smile and healthiest bite possible.
Straight teeth is why most patients seek orthodontic care. Of course, our doctors will make your teeth as straight as possible; however they know that orthodontics is much more than just straight teeth. Having the teeth fit together properly with a good occlusion (good bite) helps all of your teeth stay healthy and wear more evenly throughout your life. Did you know that you are more likely to fracture or break teeth and have gingival (gum) recession when your teeth do not fit together properly?
Starting orthodontic treatment at the appropriate time is the single most important variable for achieving the best results in the least amount of time. Sometimes this means starting with expansion as early as age 4, while other times we need to wait until as late as age 16. In conjunction with the American Association of Orthodontists, Dr. Baumgaertel and Dr. Beckwith recommends that children should receive an orthodontic evaluation around age 7. This does not mean that every 7-year-old will be ready to begin orthodontic treatment. An early evaluation allows our doctors to anticipate the need for orthodontic treatment and select the appropriate time to begin.
Dr. Baumgaertel and Dr. Beckwith believe that in addition to providing the best orthodontic care, together with their office team they have the opportunity and responsibility to be a positive influence and even role models for our young patients.
At Mountain View Orthodontics we know that, “We can change your smile… you can change the world!”
